CEO Patty Roe Built Pink Haze to Empower Women
Pink Haze was born to empower women who celebrate themselves and encourage women to live fully and uninhibited. As a luxury cannabis lifestyle brand for the modern woman, we offer the ultimate indulgence.
We caught up with CEO Patty Roe.
How did you get involved in cannabis?
I wanted to make a career change and decided to revisit a past dream of cannabis. I was involved in the advocacy of cannabis over twenty-five years ago but my career path took me through two long careers of financial markets and politics before I found my way back.
I attended a female cannabis event over three years ago and saw new potential and professionalism in the industry. After a nine-month period of dealing with the city of San Diego for a dispensary license and running a medical-cannabis delivery, our license fell through. We closed the delivery soon after.
During the delivery days, we became connoisseurs of high-end cannabis and noticed a huge void in marketing to sophisticated women. We’ve created a properly decadent line of cannabis pre-rolls made especially for women.
Pink Haze was born to empower women who celebrate themselves and encourage women to live fully and uninhibited.
What is your mission with @thepinksesh?
Pink Sesh Society is a movement born from Pink Haze. We invited groups of women to gather for content creation and what happened next was out of our control. DMs in Instagram and our email list grew beyond what we could imagine.
We witnessed friendships form and social anxieties dissipate before our eyes. My business partner, Summer, and I have been amazed since the very first Pink Sesh eighteen months ago. We provide a positive pledge to live by and do our best to lead by example. These are the days of female empowerment but sometimes women can be so hurtful to each other. We rise above that behavior and hope to bring others on this positive journey.
Pink Sesh Society is involved in events, philanthropy and small outings to support cannabis and community. This community of women is strong and growing.
Pink Sesh Society Pledge: Together as the Pink Sesh Society, we pledge to live exceptionally, accept no judgement, be our beautiful selves, live by our own rules, and empower ourselves to empower others. The pledge we take reminds us all that we’re in this together.
Where do you see yourself in the industry in 5 years?
I see myself celebrating a strong brand and the jobs we’ve created in this emerging industry. I also plan to return to creative writing. I’d like to pitch my first political novel for publishing and complete another novel based around the cannabis industry.
What's the biggest challenge of working in the cannabis space and the biggest reward? The biggest challenge and reward are exactly the same right now. People. While we have met up with some shady characters, been stolen from, and lied to, we have met some of the most amazing people who add to our lives both personally and professionally.
