Hemp Lab was founded in 2018 by two native New Yorkers on a mission to bring the west coast back home. They provide cannabis education and access at compassionate and affordable pricing while working to destigmatize cannabis through community.
We caught up with Hemp Lab's Stephanie Diaz to learn more.
How did you get involved in cannabis?
After highschool in 2012 our co-founder Manos and I moved to Washington state to pursue medical cannabis. We had a few collective gardens and it was incredible to be a part of that community. Now 7 years later we're back home doing what we love.
What is your mission with Hemp Lab NYC?
Hemp lab was a mission to bring the west coast back home.vWe want to provide people access to cannabis in a way that's transparent, accessible and affordable. Growing up in NYC we have never had the privilege of having an open cannabis culture.
What's the biggest challenge of working in the cannabis space and the biggest reward?
One of the biggest challenges is being able to keep up to date on the ever-changing climate of the industry. Laws are changing every day, new cannabinoids are being discovered. It's all very exciting and it's amazing to be in the middle of it.
The biggest reward is actually being a part of that climate and using my platform to incite positive change in the community.
Do you have any advice for any fellow cannapreneurs?
There never been a better time than now to become a part of this tapestry that is the cannabis industry.
Whether its food, clothing, design etc., find what you love and figure out how to apply it to cannabis.
